Just like us, cats can occasionally feel lethargic but if they are acting like this for an extended period of time and they are also refusing to eat or drink then this calls for an emergency visit to the vet. Here are the most common reasons for cats that are low in energy and also experiencing a change in eating or drinking behavior.

Cat Has an Illness

There is a good chance that your cat is sick. Unfortunately, cats have a tendency to hide their symptoms so it’s not easy to tell whether they are sick. Loss of appetite, however, is something they won’t be able to hide. There are a number of health conditions that could cause this. It could be something mild or something as serious as kidney failure and pancreatitis. Don’t delay and get a diagnosis from the vet.

Cat Got Vaccinated Recently

Your vet may have already warned you on this but cats can also feel lethargic after they receive a vaccination. This is a side effect that will happen to some cats. You will just need to pay close attention to your cat during the recovery period and contact the vet if the reaction seems too strong.

Cat is Stressed

Cats may also lose appetite and energy if they find themselves in a stressed or unusual situation. For example, moving to a new home could be one reason for cats that suddenly refuse to eat or drink. This can also happen when you break the cat’s regular routine.
