Is it Safe for Cats to Eat Pine Nuts?

Pine nuts aren’t considered toxic to cats but they should not be given to your feline friend due to the high amount of fat the nuts contain. A cat’s digestive tract isn’t used to handling a large amount of fat so eating pine nuts can lead to cats getting conditions like diarrhea and vomiting.

Pine nuts may have a rich nutritional profile but it’s best that you keep them away from your cat. Some cats may even have allergies to pine nuts so a small amount may potentially trigger a dangerous reaction like anaphylaxis. You should avoid feeding your cat any foods that isn’t considered to be part of a cat’s normal diet.
