Dogs May Not Always Like Kisses on the Head
How your dog reacts to kisses will depend on a number of factors such as his personality and comfort level. You will find that dogs will have different reactions to kisses on the head. Some dogs will appreciate it, others will hate it.
First, you need to understand that kissing is not a natural behavior for dogs. We might view a dog’s lick as a similar behavior to us kissing but there’s no guarantee that dogs will think the same way. Some dogs that don’t like kisses on the head may not realize that this act is a sign of affection.
Other dogs may not like kisses on the head when they feel threatened or find themselves in an uncomfortable situation. This could, for example, happen when a stranger tries to give the dog a kiss on the head. They might feel the stranger is invading their personal space.
If your dog doesn’t like getting kisses on the head then don’t push it. Respect the dog’s space and find other ways to show your affection.
