Dogs Can Digest Chicken Bone but Shouldn’t Eat it

Most dogs should be able to digest chicken bone but that doesn’t mean they should be allowed to eat it. Certain types of bone including those that come from birds like chicken should be off-limits to dogs.

Chicken bone, especially those that are cooked, can easily splinter and break. The resulting bone shards may end up choking your dog or creating lesions or punctures in the dog’s gastrointestinal tract. This is a health risk you don’t want your dog to be involved with.

Some of the chicken bone might be small or soft enough for the dog to eventually digest while other pieces of chicken bone may just pass through uneventfully. Both, however, are a big “if”.
