You shouldn’t let your dog drink all forms of soda including popular beverages such as Coca Cola, Pepsi, Dr Pepper, and Mountain Dew. Some of these drinks might not contain ingredients that are highly toxic to dogs but what they do contain is an excessive amount of sugar.

In the short-term, dogs that drink soda are likely to suffer from temporary health problems like stomach upsets and diarrhea. Excessive amounts of sugar may cause inflammation in the dog’s body. It can also cause the dog’s blood sugar level to spike to unhealthy levels.

In the long-term, dogs that are allowed to drink soda will most likely suffer from serious health issues like dental problems and being overweight. There are also other harmful ingredients that need to be considered.

Coca Cola, for example, contains some caffeine, which can be fatal to dogs when consumed in large amounts. When it comes to beverages, you should try to stick to the safe side and allow your dog to drink water and nothing else.

In addition to soda, don’t let your dog drink any sugared beverages like milk tea and tapioca pearls. You can learn more about what foods dogs should or shouldn’t eat by visiting our human foods for dog database.
