What Can Dogs Eat After Having Teeth Pulled

Dog owners have to be extra careful about what they feed their dog after a canine has his teeth pulled. The dog’s teeth and gum are likely to be in a sensitive state after a dental procedure so you don’t want to make your dog eat anything that might affect the healing duration of their teeth.

It’s quite normal for dogs to not have an appetite immediately after having his teeth pulled so don’t worry if your dog isn’t taking a sniff of his favorite treats. When your dog’s appetite gradually returns, you should make sure that he is only eating soft food.

The vet would have most likely provided recommendations but consider having your dog eat things like canned wet food or kibbles that have been softened with water. You could also add in some of your own cooked foods like plain rice and chicken. Some dogs, however, may need to be kept on a liquid diet before they are able to eat anything soft.

During this time, it’s also important for your dog to have access to clean, fresh water. You should replace the water more frequently while your dog is recovering from the dental procedure.
