Dogs can safely eat artichoke in moderation, both in raw and cooked form. Occasionally mixing in some artichoke to your dog’s food can be beneficial for the dog’s health. Artichoke is known for having a rich supply of antioxidants and other important nutrients that help maintain a dog’s health.

All parts of the artichoke including the stem, leaves, and artichoke heat are safe for dogs to eat. You just need to make sure that the artichoke is first cut into tiny pieces so that there is little risk of gastrointestinal blockage. If you plan to cook the artichoke then our suggestion would be to roast or boil. Artichoke served to dogs shouldn’t be fried in oil or butter.

If this is the first time your dog is eating artichoke then make sure to first have the dog sample a tiny bit. Some dogs might either not like the taste of the artichoke or may even have allergies toward them. Aside from plain artichoke, find out what other human foods is and isn’t safe for dogs to eat.
