Can Dogs Eat Beef Jerky? When it is or isn’t an Emergency

Beef jerky could be a good treat for dogs every once in a while, but you have to be very selective about the type of beef jerky you feed to dogs. For example, many beef jerky products designed for human consumption may not actually be healthy or safe for dogs to eat.

Beef jerky for human consumption may contain ingredients that are harmful to dogs. For example, some beef jerky products may come with marinade or seasoning like garlic and onion, both of which are toxic to dogs. Other products may not contain such ingredients but could contain a large amount of sodium.

If you want to feed your dog beef jerky then please make sure you only let them eat products designed for pet consumption. These products won’t contain additives that are harmful to pooches. You could even made homemade beef jerky if you have a dehydrator at home.
