Nothing good will come out from letting your dog eat coleslaw. It can be quite fattening given the ingredients used. It could also be toxic to dogs but this depends on what goes inside the coleslaw.

For example, finely-chopped onions may be used in some coleslaw recipes. Onions happen to be one of many ingredients that are toxic for our furry friends. A tiny amount of coleslaw is unlikely to be dangerous but a dog that eats a full plate or bowl or coleslaw may require a trip to the emergency vet.

Aside from the onions, the other problematic ingredient that goes into coleslaw is the mayo and milk. Most dogs are lactose intolerant so eating some coleslaw may trigger a stomach upset.

As you may already know, mayonnaise is high in fat content so eating a lot of it won’t be beneficial for the dog’s health.
