Can Dogs Eat Curry Dishes? When it is or isn’t an Emergency

For dogs, curries can be quite a hazardous dish. Depending on what ingredient the curry contains, the level of danger could range anywhere from mild to dangerous. As a general rule of thumb, you shouldn’t let your dog get a taste of curry or any curry-based dishes.

Whether it is Indian curry, Japanese curry, Thai curry, or delicious curries from other parts of the world, the dish is likely to contain ingredients that are considered toxic to dogs and cats. Garlic and onions, for example, are toxic to pets and are also common curry ingredients.

There are also the spices that go into curry-based dishes. Basic curry powder, for example, contains ingredients like cinnamon, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and cumin. These ingredients might not be fatal to dogs but they will be sure to cause irritation in your dog’s body. Dogs that eat a bit too much curry may end up with a major digestive upset.
