Can Dogs Eat Dumplings? When it is or isn’t an Emergency
You should never let your dog eat dumplings, intentionally or accidentally. Dumplings come in many shapes, sizes, and ingredients, some of which are going to be much more unsafe for dogs than others.
The main reason to not let your dog eat dumplings is due to the ingredients. For example, it’s not uncommon for dumplings, especially from Asian countries, to contain ingredients like onions, garlic, and chives. They are all from the Allium family and can be highly toxic to dogs and cats.
Dumplings can also contain ingredients that are unsafe for dogs when consumed in large amounts. This could include ingredients like salt and fat. Dogs that get their paws on a few dumplings may end up with health issues like stomach upsets and diarrhea.
Keep a close eye on your dog if he managed to eat some dumplings and call the vet if you sense his condition is getting worse. In reality, one dumpling is unlikely to contain a high enough dose of ingredients to cause a serious reaction but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
