Avoid Letting Your Dog Eat Gouda Cheese

Gouda Cheese

Gouda cheese isn’t considered toxic to dogs but it can put a lot of stress on your dog’s digestive tract if they are allowed to eat a lot of it. This applies to most varieties of cheeses and dairy-based products.

The biggest problem with letting your dog eat gouda cheese is the fact that many dogs are actually lactose intolerant. The good news is that gouda cheese has lower levels of lactose than other popular types of cheese but there is still that risk of intolerance. Dogs that eat gouda cheese may end up suffering from mild digestive problems like constipation and diarrhea.

Aside from the issues with lactose, the fat content might also create further stress on the dog’s stomach but that’s only if the dog eats a large amount of gouda cheese. Make sure cheese is never left unattended in the dog’s presence.
