Hard-Boiled Eggs Are Safe for Dogs to Eat

Boiled Eggs

The occasional hard-boiled egg could make a good, healthy treat for dogs. Eggs are a good source of nutrition for dogs. They are packed with protein and other nutrients a dog requires like vitamins and omega-3 fatty acid.

Unlike raw eggs, hard-boiled eggs have a much, much lower risk of passing on dangerous diseases and bacteria like salmonella. While unlikely, some dogs might be unfortunate enough to be allergic to eggs so it’s important to only let your pooch eat a tiny piece if this will be the first time you give him a hard-boiled egg.

Technically speaking, you could also let your dog eat the egg shells as well but we would advise against it unless your vet has given the green light. When you serve the hard-boiled egg to your dog, make sure it doesn’t come with any extra seasoning or additives. Just let your dog eat it plain.
