Can Dogs Eat Sesame Seeds? When it is or isn’t an Emergency

Yes, it’s safe for dogs to eat sesame seeds in moderation. Sesame seeds are found in a lot of foods, such as a burger bun and in Chinese takeout dishes. Despite their plain appearance, sesame seeds are actually packed with a lot of great nutrients and minerals. They are rich in iron, vitamin B-6, magnesium, and calcium. These nutrients may help dogs maintain a healthy bone structure and reduce the risks of inflammation in the body.

One way for dogs to enjoy sesame seeds is by using it as a supplement for dog food or dog treats. Despite being a nutrient powerhouse, it isn’t necessary for sesame seeds to be a daily requirement of a dog’s diet. Most dogs already get their essential minerals and nutrients from regular dog foods so we suggest using sesame seeds as an occasional supplement, rather than as a daily necessity.
