Can Dogs Eat Shredded Wheat? When it is or isn’t an Emergency

A small amount of shredded wheat isn’t considered dangerous for dogs but it’s best that you don’t feed your furry pal such cereal products. Shredded wheat could be considered safer than other popular cereal brands given its relatively-low sugar content but there are other dangers that dog owners should be aware of.

Wheat is one of the most common food allergens for dogs so the first concern for dog owners should be whether their dog is allergic to wheat. Dogs that suffer from food allergic reactions may start to exhibit symptoms like gastrointestinal upsets, diarrhea, and bloating.

These days, shredded wheat comes in a variety of flavors. Some of these flavors may contain ingredients that aren’t considered healthy for dogs. If you plan to feed your dog some shredded wheat then please only feed them the plain version (in tiny amounts) and also confirm that your dog isn’t allergic to wheat.
