Avocado oil is an edible oil that has grown in popularity due to its many health benefits. Because of this, some dog owners may be tempted to give some of this oil to their dogs as well.

The good news is that avocado oil isn’t considered toxic to dogs. It doesn’t include parts of the avocado that could be problematic for dogs, including the pit, skin, and leaves. Despite the oil having less risks than regular avocado, it does contain a high fat content which can be problematic for a dog’s stomach.

If you want to give your dog some avocado oil then only plan to give a tiny amount no more than once per week. A teaspoon worth of avocado oil could be considered an appropriate amount. Dog owners need to also keep in mind that certain dogs may have allergic reaction to foods that they haven’t ingested before so you should first confirm that your dog isn’t allergy to avocado before you supplement the dog’s food with the edible oil.
