Can You Give Dogs Tylenol for Pain Relief?

Human Use Medication

Under no circumstances should you give your dog pain relief medication for human use. Tylenol, in particular, can be dangerous for dogs, even if the dog accidentally consumed it in small doses.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is an over-the-counter medication used to treat mild to moderate pain. Those who aren’t aware of the dangers may think that Tylenol can offer the same pain relief effect for their sick dog. That’s not the case. Tylenol can have an adverse effect on your dog’s body. It could, for example, affect normal body functions, which eventually leads to the development of medical conditions like kidney dysfunction.

Make sure medication is stored safely away from your dog’s reach. Call the emergency vet if your suspect your dog has eaten some Tylenol. The sooner you identify this, the better.
